We sold tons of these in the 90's- literally. We just found a small stash of them again from that era, they won't last long.
These are original US military chemical protective suits. Also known as the MOPP suit, these are great for much more than the intended use. Features found on them-
The lining is impregnated with activated charcoal. Designed to keep bad chemicals out it also has the advantage of keeping your own scent in, making these great for hunters. Compare the cost of these to the cost of the scent blocking clothing sold at hunting outfitters.
The material they are made from is fully waterproof. It is a special tightly woven nylon/cotton blend that its treated to be waterproof, but does not rustle and make noise like most waterproof fabrics. It is like a better version of the material used on the field jackets. This material was very expensive and complex to make and originally cost the government a whole lot of money.
They are thick and warm. Of course to everyone who had to wear them in the summer for training that sucked, but for use in winter it is great
They feature snaps on the pants and tops that hook together keeping your top from riding up as you bend over.
They are sized and designed to be able to slip on over your clothing as an outer layer if desired so they have features like zippers on the bottom of the pants legs to allow you to put them on over boots.
The most obvious and common use for these is for hunters, the activated charcoal lining is great at blocking scent. But that is far from all they are good for. We have sold a lot to farmers and homesteaders who keep them around the barn and home to have something to slip on quickly when they are about to do a dirty or muddy task. A lot of people (myself included) keep a set in the car or truck to have an emergency pants or jacket or both to throw on if you have to do something like change a tire in bad weather.
We had a large farm in the 90's buya hundred sets of these to keep on hand for their farm workers to wear in bad weather. The suits are so rugged when we got this lot we called them to see if they needed any more they said the ones they bought then are still holding up for them!
These are all new in the package. When you first open them there will be charcoal dust inside that will get on you and your clothing as you wear them. If you plan to use them for hunting its best to deal with this and it will eventually stop. If you plan to use them for work clothing or warmth then you can wash them 2-3 times and get all of that washed out.
Sizing- we have two sizes, medium and large. The pants size is what you base the choice on. These have a very generous size adjustment on the waist, like BDU pants but bigger, as well as a drawstring so they actually will pull down even smaller than the size listed. The sizing is based on if you want to wear these over existing clothing or just over your underwear.
Medium - if worn over other clothing waist 34-39, if worn over just underwear 37-43
Large- if worn over other clothing 38-43, if worn over underwear 42-48
